Proteases in grapevine research
Several protease classes have been described to play an important role in plant-pathogen interactions, particularly associated to pathogen recognition and immune priming. Recently, our team showed that members of the subtilase family of serine proteases have a key role in establishing the incompatible grapevine-P. viticola interaction.
To disclose their model of action and to identify the protease families involved in plant resistance, multiple approaches (proteomics, gene expression, bioinformatics and interactome analysis) are being used to build a model grapevine proteases participation in incompatible interactions.
